Welcome to the first release of Treats Club 🥳🥳

The current vision is me releasing a list of the good foods and lesser foods eaten every 1-2 months. The bar is food that I would go back for :)

It will be mostly Sydney because that’s more relevant to this audience but I may include Melbourne sometimes (if you would ever like recs for other cities you’re welcome to DM me). And if I have any notable cooking episodes I will include them here too.

I’ve written for months January through April so you can check those out on the site if you haven’t already 👉👈

tuna carpaccio pizza

Bottega Coco (CBD)
As a cake enthusiast I’ve been meaning to cross this off my list. The Opera House Cake was ehh… mostly chocolate & on the blander side. I really enjoyed the Pizza & the Sticky Date Dessert was delicious.

tempura, salmon bento

Yama (CBD)
It’s hard to find solid Japanese restaurants in Sydney as so many of them are suffering from shrinkflation or quality issues :(

Yama is mid end $ but the quality was really good. The seafood was fresh & the Tempura perfectly done; crisp, & not too doughy or oily. The desserts are pre-packaged mochis & cakes that I believe are sourced from Japanese suppliers, but marked up, so I would recommend against ordering them.

mochi youtiao + cheung fun

Eastwood Night Markets
I’ve been to Burwood, Chinatown & Chatswood night markets but this has been my favourite thus far. Less crowded & more stalls, with more food that I thought was appealing. Plus they have the little hawker-esque section in case you are still looking for something else. Mochi Youtiao are great.

gopchang

Manseok (Lidcombe)
Thanks for introducing me to 곱창 Niv. For those uninitiated they’re KBBQ Intestines, which are super indulgent & dripping with oil… If you like the richness of pork belly fat it’s worth a try. They had a weird foil grill but it was actually much less faffy than other grills, & crisped it up nicely. The Corndogs here was super good too.

besties brunch <3

Salvage Specialty Coffee (Artarmon)
Super lowkey spot but everything tasted good. I got the Lobster Eggs Benny, Dan’s Crispy Rice with Chorizo was delish. The French toast dessert was one of the better café French toast I’ve had; usually they’re soggy but this was super crisp & yum.

seafood pajeon pizza

Tenacious Pizza (Darlinghurst)
Being a new venture from a small group, they haven’t ironed out their logistics yet... It took 50 minutes for the first pizza to come out & 40 minutes for the second. We almost left tbh.

The pizzas were good, but honestly a traditional woodfired base would have been tastier; I don’t think the rice flour dough adds much more than the tag of Asian fusion, while losing coveted crispiness. The honey seaweed flavour was yum.

crookie

Jessie’s Kitchen
The Tiktok viral item that has now infiltrated various bakeries in Sydney. Verdict: They’re both already very buttery & carb-y foods, I would rather eat a cookie & croissant separately. The cookies from the leftover dough were delicious though... 🤤

A very tasty month 😊

We may have different tastebuds! What I enjoy, you might not. Restaurants perform differently on different days, change over time etc. Wishing you a tasty meal 🎀
